After a 21 hour flight Sydney to New York Jenny and I hit the road running. Arriving Saturday evening we indulged in a fabulous dinner at the well known french bistro “Balthazar" in Soho, then early to bed with very full tummies. Thinking we needed energy for the coming days...
Sunday we had an early start at the NY Now fair, a huge trade fair, so many different rooms and levels, a bit daunting… We were quickly impressed by the fabrics, jewellery and products on display, amazing creativity, very inspiring. A lot of metallic colours, subtle not brass. We also came across animal print fabrics, earthy tex/mex designs, cowhides and so much more. The jewellery were often very geometrical, almost architectural. So much fun seeing a lot of individual designs that we haven’t seen that much of here in Australia yet.
We found new exciting jewellery designers and cushion/fabric designers that we are looking forward to introduce to the Australian home market. New small companies starting out with extraordinary products. We also found scented candles for men! Dark masculine glass and scents with fun names like “The Romantic”, The Seducer” and “Bad Boy”. Might be a good Christmas present for someone.
On our last day we had finally time to visit our friend Jennifer Januch in her fabulous "Bag-all" shop in Soho. We love her travel bags and have most of her stock in our shops. And of course a visit to our favourite shop for inspiration ABC Carpet & Home.
We’ll come with an update when the new stock arrives :-)
